THE SITE OF OUR RETREAT
I made these Bryce2 renders June '98 using terrains made from satellite height data of northewestern New Mexico downloaded from the internet.
These are the first Bryce images I've made since the Bryce Retreat as a study of the area where we'd all just been.
The area is the north west corner of New Mexico, near the town of Abiquiu also known as the area where Georgia O'Keeffe spent the second 50 years of her life. It was also the site of the first annual "Bryce Retreat @ Ghost Ranch" created by noted author Susan A. Kitchens as a crucible for creativity in the desert. At the Ghost Ranch Conference Center 45 people gathered for a week in a low security low tech facility with no e-mail, no fax, no TV, no distractions. Yet we were able to set up a computer lab in one of their large meeting rooms with the resourceful help of Intergraph computers . We kept it open 24 hours a day for 5 days as people lived, slept, and breathed Bryce! We hiked in canyons, we Bryced, we hiked up mesas, we Bryced, we slept, we Bryced, we didn't eat. (that's an in-joke)
